In the fall of 2010, the Jewish Federation of Ulster County was awarded a Preserve New York grant by the Preservation League of New York State in conjunction with the New York State Council on the Arts.  The $9,000 grant was awarded to partially fund a Historic Structures Report (HSR).  The HSR ties together all of the historical and technical information gathered by our architect, engineering team, conservation specialists and project historian gathered over the course of the last eight years.   It will guide the project throughout our current Building Stabilization Project and all future work on the bakery buildings.  The HSR is expected to be completed by March 2013.

The Historic Structure Report (HSR) provides documentary, graphic, and physical information about the Reher Bakery’s history and existing condition. It also addresses our goals for the reuse of the property and outlines a scope of recommended work to achieve them. The HSR serves as an important guide for our current stabilization work and for our future planning to adapt the building for its use as the home of the Reher Center for Immigrant Culture and History.
